      NSF Testing & Certification Specialist - Biosafety   Relocation opportunity to San Francisco Bay area - relocation assistance provided!         Biosafety Expert - EHS Consulting San Fransisco, CA   Triumvirate Environmental is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Senior Consultant (Manager or Senior Manager Level) to be the lead point of contact and owner for biosafety engagements within California and the west coast region. This individual will have an in depth understanding of common EH&S and Biosafety concepts, issues, and challenges and able to identify unmet demands to provide resolutions, for current and new clients while ensuring to the highest level of satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have broad based experience working in an EH&S capacity with a portion of that experience working in a professional services group leading project and consulting teams. This position reports to the Director of Biosafety.  Triumvirate services the biotechnology industry as a primary business sector and distinguishes itself nationally in this area. We are looking for a biosafety professional who is interested in building on Triumvirate’s current success and becoming part of our subject matter expertise in this sector.     The primary goal of the position is to guide clients to be good stewards of the environment, protect the health and welfare of employees, and ensure regulatory compliance at the local, state, and federal levels. The EH&S Manager must have excellent interpersonal skills and writing abilities, be self-directed and able to work in a variety of industry settings, client cultures, and work locations.    Experience at this level: Five to eight years working experience in EH&S with 1-3 years of those years as a profession advisor and/or consultant to third party clients, preferably in the Life Science industry. Since this position requires biosafety subject matter expertise, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the National Institute of Health (NIH) guidelines, Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories (BMBL), multiple local and state regulations pertaining to recombinant DNA (rDNA) work and work involving biosafety levels 1 through 3.     Role Responsibilities: In addition to being a standout compliance manager, the ideal candidate for this position will lead the effort to: - Assist in the development and implementation the Triumvirate national biosafety consulting program focusing on current and emerging biotechnology hubs. - Provide technical leadership to support clients’ biosafety programs. - Contribute to the advancement of knowledge of the Triumvirate consulting team as we strive to support clients with EH&S program development (with focus on laboratory and biological safety) to ensure EH&S risks are appropriately managed and compliance is maintained. - Improves the advancement of biosafety services and strategic priorities through program development in areas of technical competency, including biosafety and laboratory safety. Additional Responsibilities: Provides EH&S support and training to clients and the Triumvirate consultant team within areas of technical competency, in addition to biosafety.    Qualifications: Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in sciences, examples include microbiology, biomedical engineering or equivalent discipline required. - Industry certifications to demonstrate advancement of knowledge and leadership. - Experience directly with biotechnology research and development companies, extensive professional relationships in the industry, and experience navigating the rDNA/biosafety permitting process is a significant plus. - This is a Safety Sensitive Position. Preference will be given to candidates that have the following certifications: - ABSA certification as a Registered Biosafety Professional (RBP) or a Certified Biological Safety Professional (CBSP) - A MS or PhD in Biological or Biomedical Sciences. - Experience as a Biosafety Officer or laboratorian within BSL2 or BSL3. Environmental Health and Safety Consultant    Triumvirate Environmental is seeking an experienced EHS Consultant to own and deliver short and long term consulting and staff augmentation engagements in the San Francisco Bay area.  This individual will have a good understanding of EH&S concepts, issues, and challenges and will be able to identify unmet issues and opportunities with resolutions, for current and new clients while ensuring to the highest level of satisfaction.  The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in an EH&S capacity.  This position reports to an EH&S Manager.    Essential responsibilities and duties include: - Measure occupational and environmental hazards, such as noise and ergonomics, using calibrated scientific equipment and/or collecting samples of dust, vapors or gases according to a defined operating procedure. Measure the effectiveness of engineered control systems such as fume hoods. - Participate in the inspection and examination of machinery and equipment, such as lifting devices, machine guards, or scaffolding. - Conduct workplace safety inspections according to a defined procedure, evaluating the use of personal protective equipment, such as respirators, respirators, protective eyewear, or hardhats, according to applicable regulations. These inspections of the workplace will involve talking with workers and observing their work. - Identify potential accident and health hazards, such as toxic vapors, mold, mildew, and explosive gas-air mixtures and help implement appropriate control measures, such as adjustments to ventilation systems. - Help investigate accidents and injuries, identifying causes and recommending remedial action. - Communicate with Client personnel regarding workplace safety issues, recommending corrective actions. - Conduct routine EHS safety trainings such as new employee orientation, hazard communication, fork truck trainings, without supervision. - Write reports, including accident reports, and enter information on required Occupational Safety and Health Administration recordkeeping forms. - Assist in the development of specific areas of occupational health and safety systems, including drafting or updating policies, procedures, and manuals.   Required qualifications:  - Working experience in an EH&S capacity, ideally with at least one of those years as a professional advisor or consultant to third party clients. - Bachelor’s degree or above in occupational health, safety, or a related scientific field, such as biology, chemistry or engineering. - Completed two or more industry-recognized trainings (OSHA 10 or 30, ABSA, HAZWOPER, DOT/IATA HAZMAT Transportation). - Excellent communication & customer service skills. - Active member in at least one national professional safety organization including local chapters. - Working towards meeting the requirements of and obtaining one professional designation/certification (CSP, CHMM, CIH, etc.). - This is a Safety Sensitive position.
